Mono Ethylene glycol (MEG)

It is a colorless, transparent and viscous liquid. It is sweet and hygroscopic, miscible with water, lower aliphatic alcohols, glycerin, acetic acid, acetone and similar ketones, aldehydes, pyridines and similar coal tar oil alkalis, slightly soluble in ether, almost insoluble in benzene and its homologues, chlorinated hydrocarbon, petroleum ether and oil. It is mainly used for production of synthetic resin, surfactant and explosives, and also used as antifreeze.
